The
International Committee will
continue to provide assistance to overseas projects which address the
much-needed areas of health, education, housing and good governance.
Kenya
continues to be targeted with ongoing financial assistance which helps
provide a good education for poor children in that country.
In addition this year we are looking at very worthwhile projects in New Guinea and Timor Leste.
Financial assistance to help Rotary International combat Malaria and the purchase of Rotary Shelter Boxes are also areas where our club will be contributing in 2012/13.
The club commends Janice and David Virgin on their ongoing commitment to the New Life Africa School, and is pleased to again contribute funds to support the school. This is in addition to funds raised by Janice and David through the International Night held recently at their home; and at a Christmas craft stall coordinated by Janice, which alone raised $2,200.
The International Committee is planning to hold a fundraising “International Tasting Night” on Thursday 30th May. This will incorporate dishes being provided from throughout the world, e.g. Africa, Spain, India etc.
