From the President's Desk

Good Afternoon e-Club Members and Friends of Rotary,

I hope your week has gone well; here are a few tidbits to keep you up-to-date with the Rotary World.

DG Sandy Doumany has included flood relief in her Bushfire Appeal, please make donations into our account (details on our webpage http://www.rotaryeclubnextgen.org/) and mark it District Disaster Relief and Dianne will forward it onto the District.  Remember every little bit counts and by donating to Rotary ALL proceeds will get to the right people.

Please note District 9640 have launched their new website, please check it out at: http://www.rotary9640.org/ it is still not fully populated but it is easier to use and more user friendly.

Do make sure you have booked for the District Conference in April 12 - 14, 2013 on the Gold Coast at: http://rotary9640conference.org/ .  Secretary Chris will also have a display hoping to get more Rotarians interested in the Ause-Service Safare (http://www.rotarynews.info/3/Club/76644/7697/). Mind you as the days go on, the numbers are adding up brilliantly. Well done Chris.

DG Sandy and Sam will be our Guest Speakers on Tuesday February 12, 2013 at 8pm Qld time - so please hold that date. They will be coming to "The Shed", so if you wish to join us in person please let Chris know (secretary@rotaryeclubnextgen.org).

After reading your Rotary Down Under Magazine or The Rotarian, what do you do with it? I print a label with our e-Clubs website on it, stick it on the front and leave it at our local Noodle Box or Doctor's Surgery, Hairdresser or Pathologist.

Unfortunately, we didn't get to the RYLA Dinner last Tuesday Night due to the flooding of roads but the silver lining was we were available for the Forum. I am sure the awardees will fill us in, in the next few weeks. I can now tell you Rhys is booked in for March 5th, 2013. Awesome!

On the Forum - it was great to have Members from Darwin, Bribie Island, Griffith and the Gold Coast to welcome Dr. Mike from Donate Life (http://www.donatelife.gov.au/) to speak to us for this week's Forum on Organ & Tissue Donation. It is a topic some people shy away from but we have always discussed it with our girls. Dr. Mike went through Myths and Misconceptions which was great. We were able to ask him those questions in a friendly open session that we probably wouldn't think of when 'that' time comes.

If you haven't had a chat with your family yet, it might be a good time for all of you to have a look at the recording of the Forum: http://www.rotarynews.info/2/Club/76644/7501

This week's Forum February 5th, 2013 will be Deborah Ralf speaking about Orphans in Burma. She will be at, 'The Shed', so please come on down if you wish to join us otherwise we will see you online at 8pm.

Two awesome Forums in two weeks, we're on a roll. I am sure Deborah will make three. If anyone reading this has any ideas for our Forums and of course the presenter can log in from anywhere in the World please email Mary at admin@rotaryeclubnextgen.org with their details.

My final bit of news, Welcome to Kaye a new Member and she also braved the Forum on Tuesday night. So great to have you as a Member of the e-Club, I hope we impressed you with your first Presenter.

Yours in Rotary,

Rick Jewson
President
