Our passion for ROMAC

To gain an appreciation of the reasons we support Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children (ROMAC), please view this Latest ROMAC presentation.

To support the activities of ROMAC our club annually arranges a Mountain Bike Ride. This is a two-day event riding through difficult terrain in National Parks and State Forests in the Tweed and Byron Shires of northern New South Wales.

ROMAC Charity Bike Bash

The Ride is classed as "Medium to Hard" and riders contemplating taking part should assure they have a reasonable degree of fitness and no medical impediments to be out of contact for the most part of two days. The riders are accommodated in a motel overnight and there is a lead vehicle and tail vehicle while on road sections, although the vehicles are not able to accompany the riders in the forest trails and other sections. Lunch on both days is arranged by Rotary, and the evening meal on Saturday night is at a restaurant near the motel.

To participate in the ROMAC Ride it is necessary to book as only forty riders can be accommodated overnight.

It is possible to make a one-day ride if you are able to arrange to be collected from the finishing location at the end of the days ride.

Riders under 18 years of age must provide proof of permission by a parent or guardian prior to booking.
